-16 – Tamigata


Verb. From Yamana.

“To walk with others in a line in order to move birds upstream, and then move around them in order to cut the birds off from escaping.”


Possibly one of my favorite words so far, because:

  • It’s so incredibly specific, yet there are only 4 syllables in the word
  • Its cultural significance is probably enormous in Yamana (Chile) yet seems such an unusual verb in the Western world
  • I got to use the photo of a suspicious bird =D
