-111- Yerdengh-nga

Verb. From Wagiman.

“To leave without telling anybody where you are going”

I honestly thought I was going to have difficulty finding more information about this word and verifying its translation. How wrong I was!

There is a fantastic website available on this clickable text of wonder that provides a great Wagiman dictionary from Sydney (Wagiman is a near-extinct language from Australia; only about 10 people in the whole world speak it!). Yerdengh-nga can also mean ‘to get lost’ and is similar in meaning to a coverb known as ‘yurrh-ma.’
