-164- Kiosses

Noun. From Yakut.

“A distance calculated from the time it takes to cook a piece of meat”

This is possibly, so far, the weirdest word I’ve found. It sounds crazy, but it is indeed a word used in Northern Siberia! To me it brings about thoughts of synaesthesia, like smelling colour or hearing pie, but there is a more elaborate explanation here. Apparently (and somewhat logically), the length would vary depending on the ground on which you walk, meaning that this word in itself has no accurate measurement, despite having a precise definition.
